The Servant of Two Masters, written as a comedy in 1746 by Carlo
Goldoni. Both the play and the slapstick has been brought up to date and
modernised by Richard Bean - the plot sort of lives on as the basis
for an almost choreographed set of hilarious interactions.
It has had high praise on the funny side: "One of the funniest productions in the National's history." - Guardian "The single funniest production I've ever seen." - Mark Lawson, BBC Radio 4 THE STORY
Francis is a greedy fat boy at heart and to get some more food he takes a job with another guvnor which is no other than Stanley Stubbers, Stanley fondly hopes to be re-united with Rachel who is rather busy getting the £6000 posing as the man her boyfriend Stanley has killed. Francis is engaged upon the task of making sure that the two don't run into each other - no matter what - he has to keep the two of them from meeting.
