BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS The fame this film received was well deserved. It was good. In a setting of a New York socialite, it's an iconic film that shows the struggle between marrying for love or having a marriage with whoreish connotations. It was an era where women
were enjoying a new found freedom and struggling from the
hardened chrysalis of being owned by keeper husbands. Loveless
marriages were getting bad press as the freedom to choose love dawned on
woman kind in the west. This was a story that showed all the fun of
freedom and parodied the enticements of luxury newly available to the
deep and the skin deep alike.Holly Golightly was given a choice when she fell in love. The choice was between the good guy, faithful, adoring, consistent or the careless male political slime – complete with the pomp and prejudices of money wealth. Audrey Hepburn seemed to play herself with an easy vivacity and charm that won everybody's hearts. Who does not love Audrey Hepburn? The way she wore her elegant and classic clothes, her direct outwardly knowing look were a model for all the other stars - certainly anyone with genuine charisma. Now
they bring the story to the show at the Theatre Royal Haymarket West
End. Anna Friel is taking on the persona of Holly Golightly the good
time girl who is deeper than skin deep by quite a way. Anna has a
chance to set the stage for a new version of a free young woman
choosing love or cold cash. Can she kick her abject dependency on getting a rich husband? Audrey Hepburn played Holly Golightly with great acclaim from the press and public alike. That's when a celeb was everything to do with the meaning of the word 'Celebrity'. Her direct and almost inquisitive childlike look, her style and grace with everything she wore became a part of the character that made Truman Capote's story. Anna
Friel has a look too and the wide smiling vivaciousness to go along with it. Looking forward to the launch.
