theatre goers – by night.
Thanks

Brief
This started as a film in 2007 which was a hit - the title was beguiling, the acting and production was great, it was also funny and it even had a lighthearted dig at the extremities of the American social college life - in particular the sorority.
Reese Witherspoon was said to be the reason for it's success.
Although most images on the show are about glamour and the doggie - the real reason for the film and the play's popularity is because it shows the fun of support and collaboration between people. It proved a triumph of kindness over meanness giving us a holiday from the fashionable snide, the witty put-down and petty power struggling.
Furthermore the show is full of song and dance which lifts it even further above competition to the spirit of generosity.
Story
Everyone loves the outrageous - overcoming the odds and achieving the impossible and Ellie the lead character (yes it is all about Ellie) sails through challenges that would quell the most stalwart among girls emerging into womanhood and partnership.
Ellie is an ebullient blonde in every sense and without a streak of meanness. When her long term sweetheart embarks on a legal career and decides to dump Ellie for a 'serious' person more befitting a lawyer's wife, she takes it into her own hands.
With the aid of her friends and sorority sisters she pulls it off to go to Harvard law school. What happens then is sheer fun because her outrageous dress and chutzpah cause the disapproval of her new peers. She is only spurred on to get her boyfriend back. How she achieves this is worth going to the show to see.
